History

Frank D. Hickingbotham opened the first TCBY store in Little Rock, Arkansas in 1981. Such was its rapid growth, thanks to its profitable franchising agreements, that there were more than a hundred stores by 1984.

In 2000, Mrs. Fields acquired the company and it subsequently became Mrs. Fields Famous Brands. But the company has had its share of troubles, too, such that by 2011 the chain only consisted of 405 stores, in contrast with its 1,777 stores in 2001.
