History

Mr. Gatti’s, now known as Gatti’s Pizza, was founded by James R. Eure in Stephenville, Texas. He opened a pizza and burger restaurant but it wasn’t known as Mr. Gatti’s then. In 1969, he opened another restaurant known as The Pizza Place but it was too generic so he renamed it Mr. Gatti’s to distinguish it from the other pizza parlors. Gatti’s is actually his wife’s maiden name.

After the chain changed ownership several times, its current owner is Blue Sage Capital since 2004. The chain was also renamed Gatti’s Pizza in 2007.
