History

In October 2010, Chuck Smith and Larry Perdido decided to open up a restaurant in South Congress and named it Hopdoddy. This concept was based on their experiences from the two former businesses they put up which were Moonshine and Saba. The restaurant name is a combination of Hop (for beer) and Doddies, the original Angus name of Aberdeen cattle in Scotland. When the founders initially opened Moonshine, they thought of a counter service café. But they realized that people choose food based on cravings, so they decided to establish a burger place.

What They’re Famous For

The one thing that differentiates Hopdoddy from other burger restaurants is that their ingredients are organic. Their beef is antibiotic and hormone free and humanely processed. The greens in their salad are also organic just like that of “La Bandita” in their menu. They are known for their Angus beef, and other premium beef burgers such as Akaushi beef, a Japanese beef closely similar to Kobe cattle.

Why Eat at Hopdoddy

At Hopdoddy, you are assured that burgers will be ground daily as seen at butcher’s counters of their restaurants and the buns are also baked in-house. If you want to explore other menu items, they also have other protein options such as lamb, turkey, bison, tuna and chicken.
