History

Louis Kane opened the first Au Bon Pain in New York City in 1984. During one of his morning stroll in Boston, Kane’s attention was caught by a showcase display of freshly baked French inspired breads. He thought of the idea of selling fresh French inspired breads to the cities and how it is a possible good business venture. Kane was right because his idea immediately caught the attention of the New Yorkers. Soon enough, they had to open new locations to other nearby cities to accommodate the growing demands of their increasing number of patrons. With over 30 years in the food business today, they remained committed in serving their customers with high-quality fresh meals offered at an affordable price.
