History
On March 1965, the first T.G.I. Friday’s was opened in New York City. Its owners, Alan Stillman and Daniel R. Scoggin, envisioned it to be a place where young men and women can meet and mingle – the world’s first-ever modern singles bar.
After several changes in ownership, the chain of more than a thousand stores in North America, Asia, and Europe is owned by TriArtisan Capital Partners and Sentinel Capital Partners (since May 2014). The casual dining restaurants aren’t just singles bars anymore, too, since these are also popular hangouts for families with their children and teens in tow.
